Trying to make this same decision myself. Got some new wheels, and don't have a dealer or Indy I feel 100% comfortable with. My biggest issue is I am swapping pulley's as well, so I will need to measure for the pulley spacer in order to find out the right size. The main thing is torque to specs and get your belt adjustment correct. Although, I may take it to Strokers Dallas (Rick Fairless's joint) because I know they do a lot of custom builds, therefore proper spacing of the pulley should be nothing new to those guys.
takae mine off myself take it a to a local guy for mount and balance 20$ well woth it.
I took off the lower belt guard so it is just straight down for off and straight up for on never have to touch the belt adjustment.. also I put the axel in from the left side so you don't have to take the exhaust loose or off next time..
Buy a manual and it's easy as pie. The job only takes an hour or so for the rear, less for the front. My local HD charged 40 for the mount and balance.
I just removed the front and rear wheels from my FLSTC and took them to my local CycleGear shop for new tires. They only charge $20 for tire mounting & balance. Plus their prices are good for tires & they can order whatever you want. Support your local indy shops when & where you can.
