Done away with on both bikes tha have had it. Just not for me. Pulled em off, raised the toe enough to clear my boot and added the chrome spacer. Only fall back I see I've had is I'm wearing thorugh that spot on my upper leather on the toe of the boot more often lol.
I love heel/toe shifting, I found toe upshifting weird on floorboard, just me. If you have big feet, that's another story.
Pull the heel shifter lever off and move it a notch, it sits kind of high from the factory.
Mine came off within a month of getting my bike. I gave it a chance, but never felt comfortable with it. Last summer, I installed a Kuryakyn extended shifter and love it. IMO, if you like it, keep it, if not, get rid of it. It's called personal preference.
Got an '08 Deluxe... Still struggling with what to do with heel shifter. Still in stock position. Pretty useless for me! Should I remove it, get a longer lever & drop it off the back of the floorboard and tryit out in that position, or what? Been a toeshift guy all my life!
Apparently not a Harley big twin rider or you would probably like the heel toe shifter. What made you move up to a real bike?
I'm thinking about welding a long rod to each end of mine where the pegs are attached coming up at about a 45 degree angle and meeting up by my head. It will look like a triangle when viewed from the left side of the bike. At the apex I will then put a foot peg that will be perpendicular to the two rods I welded and well be pointing towards the right side of the bike.
I can use my teeth to grab the peg and by pushing forward I can downshift and by pulling my head back I can upshift. Not to mention it will look really cool. I will probably have to lean forward a bit to do it but that's OK cause it's good to stretch while riding anyway.
I use my to rest the back of my heel against just so I don't get my shoe all over the primary. Plus you never know when you or your buddy might need a spare on a trip.
ditto on the foot stop and spare. i lowered mine to the point when i could use if i wanted but keeps my foot from sliding off.
