Got an '08 Deluxe... Still struggling with what to do with heel shifter. Still in stock position. Pretty useless for me! Should I remove it, get a longer lever & drop it off the back of the floorboard and tryit out in that position, or what? Been a toeshift guy all my life!
I take it you have large feet? I know a lot here have done away with theirs, but I love mine. Took a bit of getting used to, but now I never use my toe.
I use my to rest the back of my heel against just so I don't get my shoe all over the primary. Plus you never know when you or your buddy might need a spare on a trip.

Same here, only time I used mine was with flat bottomed shoes, usually Tennis shoes, with HD boots I had to raise leg about 3-4" to shift.
Of all the bikes I've owned I used only the toe and that's still what I use 99% time..
Just took my rear shifter off fathers day and got the cap that goes on the shaft to still make a clean look, about $14 at HD and I really like the x-tra room now on the left floorboard...

You ought to start using it. Since I got my king have never used toe to upshift again. Heel-toe is the best shifting method on the planet. I get f'n giddy just talking about it. Been riding most of the day, now feel like going back out for a spin!
