Check your owner's manual.
For my 06, Engine 2.7qts, primary 32oz and trans 20-24oz.

Are those capacities for the Fat Boy or the Sportster? My 06 Heritage calls for 3.5 qt is the crankcase, which is too much unless a scavenger is used, 26 oz in the primary and 20-24 oz in the tranny.

3.5pts is for dry, every oil and filter change, I put 2.7qts and bang on, dip stick reads right between full and low marks, I don't want to put too much to create blow-by.
Sorry, primary oil 26oz not 32, my mistake.
