You have to remove the derby covere and the primary/trans fluid shoul be just touching the bottom of the clutch diaphragm. You must have the bike in an upright position to do this.. Mark...

never had a '07 apart but what markdt said sounds like normal procedure to me.

definitely make sure you have the bike in an upright position like mark said other wise you'll have a floor full of oil (found this out the hard way)..also had to wait a 2 days for the floor to completely dry so i didn't get the fluid on my tires while moving it.

In a word-No. Not an easy way. Cover has to come off bike has to be straight upright. You might as well change it at that point. Heck even changing it is easier you can drain it easily and refill through that oval cover with 2 screws in front of the derby cover.

You dont necessarily have to take the derby cover off to fill the primary. You can put the oil in through the Primary chain inspection cover (two screws and no gasket to worry about). Really only need to remove the Derby (clutch inspection cover) if your going to adjust your clutch.

Unlike the engine which can burn or blow off oil, I see no needto check the primary oil level between service interval changes, UNLESS it's dripping out of the case. IMO
