Okay, I'm a klutz, but I can't get the passenger's right-side footrest of my 06 Deuce. I replaced the exhaust system last night (V&H Pro Pipe - so far so good!) and want to get rid of the original muffler bracket. It's held on by two #50 Torx bolts (they came right off) and the footpeg. I turned the footpeg bolt counterclockwise to remove it; it loosened up but now just spins and spins without further loosening or coming off.
you have to take the foot peg apart at the male/female joint. There is an allen head bolt that goes into the bracket. I went to the local hardware store and got a shorter bolt to reassemble. HTH
You removed the actual foot rest, right? Once that's removed, the footpeg mounting "stalk" (for lack of a better term right now) is attached to your frame with a #50 torx. (At least mine was) Problem is, the torx head is recessed down below the female fitting and a regular torx socket wont reach down that far. I had to have one made up for me that used a longer torx shaft in order for it to fit down into the female fitting and still seat into the torx head.

I loosened the bolt by turning the whole footpeg mount. Then I just used a big screwdriver in the torx bolt to remove it. Replaced the torx with a hex bolt. No #50 torx required.
