Hi there, new to the Forum. Just had a few questions regarding the purchase of a new Deluxe. I pick my baby up this Tuesday 5/30/06. Deep Cobalt Blue/Glacier White two-tone. Can't wait. First does any know how easy or difficult it is to detatch the passenger seat and luggage rack for solo rides. I really like the way the bike looks with the clean, big rear fender. But someone told me it would be difficult to do this. Second I'm very close to deciding on the V&H Big Radius for my new bike. Does anyone have any pics of their bikes or anyone elses that has the Big Radius on so I can get an idea of what they look like. I would like to see them if you could share I would reeeally appreciate it.
Hey! Welcome to the board!!! I am quite new myself.... I bought my Deluxe about a month ago (first Harley...yea yea) You will be in LOVE when you take it home.... believe me, every night I still take a quick peek at it before I go to bed.
As far as the passenger seat goes, it is simple to take off....just unscrew the bolt, remove pillion pad, and if you want the rack off too, just remove the bolts and rack and VOILA!!! There is a film under the pad that you remove...I would try and keep it (remove gently) to put back on if you ever attach the pillion again...it's just to protect the paint!
With the pipes, I'm sure someone on here may have a pic...you may even try going to the Vanceandhines.com website to check out some photos...you can listen to them too....I have the Cycle Shack thrown on when I drove my bike home, but plan on getting some new ones soon...either V&H or the Dual Fishtail~~~>loud and look sharp on the Nostagia's!!!!!!
Let us know when you get the bike and as always RIDE SAFE!!!!!
Candace
Congrats on your investment, MYHD (Dave) Can't wait to get my Deluxe. cjmilez (Candice), will you have to make adjustments since your Deluxe is fuel injected when you get your new pipes? I've been reading about this...
I talked to the parts/ service dept. and they said that it's up the the customer with what they want...I called because I can feel that the bike needs more air flow...it runs great and there is no popping, but I know what a bike feels like with maximium air flow and without....I am going to get that done next week, and they mentioned that if I change the air flow, i would need to either get the ECM download, power commander, or race tuner...ECM if you are sticking with the pipes you have on (because you would have to get another if you change out pipes)...alot of people on the board favor the commander and tuner, so I will probably go with one or the other....that way you can adjust according to your pipes... I guess reusable and not a one time deal (like the ECM).
I have the Cycle Shack slip-ons and they said the only time I start doing adjustments is when I start modifying the air...So, i guess it's a preference.... I still debating on the Screamin' Eagle Air Kit or the Arlen Ness Big Air..~~>much cheaper at cruisercustomizing.com...and people rave about it???
Has anyone with a Deluxe had their air flow modified and if so, with which one and how do you like it?
