Default T-max & softail = no fuel gauge???

So I got my T-max, got it installed & initialized. Runs great, but the fuel gauge isn't working?

did you unplug the wire to the gauge under the tank when installing the 02 sensor? also easy to just plug in the stock ecm and see if the gauge works

good thing the new one comes with a 3 year warranty..

I think it was just a firmware issue.

Yep, got the downloads & patch from the T-max site as well as firmware updates. gauge works fine now. Still no est. milage though, never really used that anyway. I guess it was kinda nice when ya start getting low and your out in the boonies.

dont forget to do the learned up date. it made a big difference and got me 43 mpg.

quote from another member "The simplest way to "reset" the learning curve on a T-Max is to select "Write Learned Offsets to Map". This writes what the T-Max has learned to your base map and then allows the unit to re-learn from those points up to 20% additional.

If you clear the learned offsets all you will accomplish is "re-setting" the module to the original map and will have to start the learning all over again from the beginning. In other words, you will lose all of your "learned" adjustments.

Just be sure to save the original map BEFORE you write the learned offsets so if there are any problems you can go back to the original map and start over. Acutally I would save the map and the learned offsets before writing and then save the map again under a different name after writing the learned offsets to the map.

Yes do the updates, but don't take a lot of time fooling around with the computer plugged into the ECM while the bikes ignition is turned on.
I made that mistake and nearly killed the battery.
Then when I went through the initialization routine it didn't seem to 'take' properly.
With it raining and battery low I didn't try starting the bike up. I just put it on the tender and waited till the next morning to test it out.
The next morning when I did try to take it out for a test ride it started kinda funny and idled so badly I didn't dare try to ride it.
So I put the bike on the battery tender, reloaded the map along with the initalization.
After that it started right up and ran right and has been doing so ever since.
