got a question, i changed my oil from standard harley oil to amsoil and its harder to shift gears and shifting into neautral is even harder. i put 10w40 in the engine primary and transmission. should i have used a different weight for the transmission and/or primary? thanks
Yep, 10w40 is OK for your primary - MOCO sold it for years as primary oil. Your tranny
will like 75w140 synthetic - I use Redline but Mobil 1 is also very popular. Also, be sure
you didn't overfill the primary - it will cause problems finding neutral.

depends on what yr bike U have,,!!!
I don't like changing the primary oil if not having an issue...
the 88's and the 96's tranny's have different requirements and makes the need of different oils desirable. the 88's are fine with 75-90GL and the 96's with the 5th whine sometimes needs the 75-140 GL oils
motor is usually better with 20w-50 weight..
