Default EFI deuce won't run

2002 Deuce has been sitting for about 2 years and all of the fluids have been changed along with the battery and spark plug wires. The gas tank has been drained and while I was at it I changed out all of the fuel lines, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. The plugs look good and it will start if I spray throttle body cleaner into the intake. I can hear the fuel pump wind up when the key is turned. As it is I have pretty much run out of ideas, any that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Change out the plugs anyway...can't hurt. Are you sure you hooked up the fuel lines correctly?

The spark plugs have been swapped with some new ones but it still wont start, and yes all the line are in the right place, i swapped them one at a time to avoid that.

Take out a plug and hook the wire back on to it...crank it and see if you get spark. Something isn't happening...either fire or fuel. Maybe check the connection to the ECM? Well, if it starts w/ the cleaner sprayed into it...my guess is it's getting fire...sounds like a possible fuel issue.

Take off the fuel line after the pump, and put it in run to prime the engine. If fuel comes out when it primes it's getting fuel too (I know you said you can hear the pump, but you never know) . That's all I can think of for right now.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll have to try that ECM connecter to. The only thing I don't feel to comfortable with is having the tank open with the battery connected.

So without even seeing if it would start after the 2 year sit you went straight to replacing fuel lines, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator? And it ran fine 2 years ago prior to the sitting and subsequent parts replacement?

If thats the case I would go back and check all your work. These EFI systems are pretty simple, very durable and a guy would almost hafta connect something wrong or have installed a faulty part for them to go bad.

Double check your work.

If the starting fluids starts the bike you may need to do a fuel pressure test if all your work looks correct and you havent inadvertantly missed something. Maybe a Local indy shop would loan you the pressure gauge and fittings if you dont have one?

Refer to service manual for FI pressure test procedure.

make sure the fuel line is plugged all the way it on the tank. you know till you hear it click
also take the fuel pump out and check to see if something is clogged. they are pretty simple like some one said.

maybe the ecm needs initialized. i believe you have to do a procedure for that. you can remove the fuel line from the injector and see if the fuel comes out fast

Ya' think it would run when he sprays the starting fluid if his ECM wasnt initialized?

I'm saving this data for future personal use in my garage as well!!!
