Default Dyno vs. Fuel Management System

I put on V&H pipes and just ordered the V&H Drak air filter. My bike is scheduled for Dyno at the dealership in a few weeks. Will the Dyno take care of fuel management or will I still need some kind of system on the bike?

Thanks.

You'll still need a fuel management system of some kind.

If it'sgoing to the dealer anyway you could just go with the screamin eagle unit. In the end they all do the same thing.

What is the point of the Dyno tune if I still need to buy a fuel management system? Can't the dealer tune me to optimal fuel management and then let it be so long as I don't do any more work?

If you get a closed-loop system such as the Thundermax with AutoTune, you don't need a dyno. It will continuously tune the engine as you ride. Having the dealer dyno tune won't accommodate changes in riding conditions, climate, loads, etc.

My understanding is that the stock unit is not really tuneable as it comes from the factory. You need something else to change things. Harley has their version. There are a number of cheaper options such as the V&H Fuel Pack. Next step up is probably Harley unit or Power Commander, both of which need dyno tuning to get the max out of, although I do just fine with my Power Commander and a "tune" I downloaded from the Power Commander website for a high flow air cleaner and my specifc pipes. The other option is to go with Thundermax with Autotune, PCV with Autotune or the Daytona Twin Tec unit that also autotunes. Although the autotune options are more expensive, you also don't have to dyno tune.

It depends on whether they are doing a dyno tune or just a pull. With a full dyno tune, nothing else is necessary (until you do the next engine mod).

May I save you a lot of money and what I think is unnecessary work? Install or have installed a V&H Fuel Pack (fuel management system). Call V&H for a code for your specific bike, pipes and air cleaner.

I did this with my '09 Fatboy and am as happy as I can be. I love the sound, the performance and the Fuel Pack just flat works and is very simple to program.

I like a good running bike as much as the next guy. Unless you want horse power/torque curve bragging rights or race, there just is no reason I can think of to dyno your bike.

I scheduled a full dyno. The Thundermax looks like it runs about $400+ so not exactly cheap, especially if I need dealer to install. I do not plan on any more engine mods for a while, so I am still a little confused. Lots of people saying I still need some type of fuel management.
