Default Taking off saddle bags

Might sound like a dumb question but how hard is it to take the saddle bags off an 04 heritage. Would like to take them off to clean them and the bike real good and was just wondering if this was a big chore. Thanks for the help

Two nuts inside the bag, and 1 bolt on the bracket. This bolt is is right in front of the bag, and holds a black bracket that is attached to the saddle bag. Takes about 5 minutes for both bags. Takes me longer to find the 1/2" wrenches than it does to do the work.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks Bill appreciate the advice. Sounds real easy. Just hate when I am washing and waxing not being able to do a good job behind them.

Yeah, it's a quick and easy deal to take them off. I ride without the bags and windshield every once and a while...

Getting the bags off sure makes for easier access to the rear tire/rim for cleaning. Even though I ride with the bags attached 95% of the time, I eventually added "ghost brackets" to my '04 Heritage, though there are several other quick detach options available. These allow me to remove the bags in a few seconds. Not only handy for cleaning but also on overnight trips so I can take the bags inside the hotel to secure my leathers and other stuff I pack around. The kit came with a handle to allow the two bags to be carried like luggage. A little pricy but the added convenience was nice.

Hope you're enjoying your ride as much as I'm liking mine, bassrock. I've had mine just over a year now and am approaching 19000 miles. Now trying to decide on whether to change tires over to metzlers at next service. Stay safe and have fun.
