rear floorboards on fatboy

I'm looking into installing the HD passenger D-shape floorboards as well. I have a 04 Fat Boy with V&H Big Shot Staggered pipes. The top of the upper pipe is about .25 inches below the stock passenger footpeg, and the top of the rear pivot bolt.
I was at the dealer and looked at 50602-00 softtail passenger floorboard kit. It was questionable if the kit would fit my set-up without a little grinding for clearance. I was told by one of the wrenches that the 'fatboy' floorboard mounting kit 50399-05 (mounting brackets only / black, not chrome), should fit with these pipes...he also said he installed the Heritage Floorboard mounts on a FB with the same V&H pipes, but the customer thought they looked too wide for the FB. The dealer didn't have the 50399-05 in stock so they need to be ordered. These mounts will accept several HD floorboards (check the HD website)
HD4ME...How do you like the Heritage passenger floorboard mounts?? Are they wide like I was told??
I would like to know if anyone tried 50399-05 mounts with V&H Big Shot Staggered pipes. Do the mounts clear the top pipe??
JWIZ...Good luck. I will probaby order the 50399-05 mount kit along with D-Shape floorboards. I'm thinking a little grinding on the mount if necessary. I will probably also grind/taper the chrome pivot bolt covers a little so they can be reinstalled over the floorboard mount tabs at the pivot bolt. Please post your solution when you have one.

I don't think they look that wide. I actually like the fact that the floorboard is not as close to the pipes vs the pegs with stock exhaust ( I still would like to know who thought that was a good design-footpeg between two exhaust pipes). The brackets go about 2" past the exhaust and when folded up are just about even with the rider footboards.
If I didn't have such a POS digital camera I would take pics.
Hope this helps.
