I have a 2006 Fatboy and just purchased a Harley Davidson alarm system, can this be installed at home or do I need to have the dealership install it, and if I install it does it void my warrenty.
I added the alarm on my 2008 FATBOY and a HARLEY shop has to install, they have the computer that sets the code and activate. It wasn't that expensive though.
What? And deprive you of a valuable learning experience?
Take a look at the posts in the DIY section for Engine Diagnostics , Alarm, and Fuel Injection Issues
Some very valuable time saving info there. Armed with the correct info it may only take an hour to program. Do not forget to set a personal code that is different from the example in your book. The personal code will allow you to disarm the system using your turnsignal switches if your keyfob is lost or damaged.
https://www.hdforums.com/m_120188/tm.htm (it takes the full 30 minutes, do not be fooled when the alarm light winks out, it takes the full 10 minutes for each step, don't blink or miss your chance. If you do you must start over.)
I must be a complete idiot - haven't even made it to the programming yet
Sorry, didn't due enough research before posting. I found the TSM. It's really tucked in there. Hopefully, programming will be smooth. I've read most of the posts on this topic. Thanks.
