Default wheel or rocker gurus ... input please

I'm about to splash out on some wheels for my rock and have been advised by 1 mob to go for a 3/4 inch pulley on the rear to ensure clearance, and another mob says they can make it work with a 1" pulley

the rear will be an 18x8.5 with either a metz 260(i'm told they measure less) or avon 250

Is it neccessary, does it matter and if so will it affect the bike in any way

Thanks for your input

D

Keep in mind 10 mm = 0.393700" or 2/5 of an inch.

My rear rim is 18 x 8.5 and I used the stock 240 tire. Clearance is about 1/8" for me and I have not had any problems. I am sure actual measurements for each brand of tire will be slightly different. Not sure on what affect there would be going to a 3/4" pulley. Common sense tells me a smaller belt might wear faster but I am not a tech. Unless you plan on doing a stage II or stage III motor you might be just fine with the narrow pulley and the 260 tire.

I'm also running the 18x8.5 rear wheel and rotor combination (All RC Components). I have the Metzler 260 tire on the back and the clearance between the belt and the tire is about the width of a quarter. If the Avon 250 is a fatter tire, you may have problems. I'll try to post some pictures later.

that would be great!!....love to see the a$$ view,

is the 260 noticeably wider than the 240...?

...did you go a 3/4 pulley? as I have been advised this would be neccessary to center the rear properly

your bike looks porno BTW

grazias gato

Default Here are some pics

I hope they don't cause more confusion as I can barely see what I'm trying to post (jagged edge is belt). I'm running a 1.25" pulley and 1" belt on the 260. The pics are trying to show the clearance is by the hair on my chiny, chin, chin. . .
