We fix lots of them. I have posted several times on this subject, had several HDF Member down who said it is normal, and also cut quite a bit of new wheel spacers when they were too short and the leg was pulled in. It is not normal when the brake pad rubs, the rotor gets hot or all of that other BS. Do a search, and just fix it by doing it.
Makes perfect sense! Thanks guys!

IT'S NORMAL....IT'S NORMAL.... IT'S NORMAL....(please don't try to pry your pads away, or fix it in any way) because IT'S NORMAL

I don't plan on prying against the pads but can definitely see where built up crud would keep the pistons from releasing enough to allow the pads to scrub some. I can't see where cleaning it all up could hurt.

I was in the auto repair industry for 15 years and would see plenty of calipers sludged up and not releasing properly and that was with rubber dust boots.

If I clean it all up and it still does it, no biggie it must be normal and I have nice clean caliper pistons.

If anyone implied prying the pads back would fix it, that would be incorrect because the next time they apply them they're right back where they were and scuffing pads with sandpaper would not be recommended either since you won't be able to make the surface completely flat and will reduce braking effectiveness until the pads wear themselves back flat. Plus the fact that doing so will do little to nothing but reduce the life of the pads.

I guess when I get my customers bikes in that are rubbing more than allowing the wheel to turn less than 1 rotation when spinning the wheel abnormal? Ya, I get everyone of them to spin between 1 1/2 rotations to 2 rotations on a HD. Abnormal it is.

At two rotations couldn't it still make noise? I replaced the front and rear caliper with new chrome ones and they still made the exact same noise. Front only - that I coudl tell.

@@@ When the car makes a noise I JUST TURN UP THE RADIO!

i dont have noise after the front bearings were replaced and i use lyndall pads
to clean my pistons i used brake cleaner. i slide the caliper off the rotor, squeeze the brake lever until the pads came together and sprayed with brake cleaner and then hand pushed the pads apart
