Default Removing Handle Bar Bushings

Anyone have some tips on the best way to remove the handle bar bushings from the triple trees? I've looked through my service manual twice now but can't find anything on how these are supposed to be removed. It's got to be in there but I haven't found it yet.

Do they come out from the top or the bottom of the triple tree (or does it even matter)? Is the rubber bushing one piece or is it two? Should I knock out the metal cylinder and then remove the rubber bushings?

The only ones I have seen are actually three piece...rubber upper, rubber lower and a steel insert through the middle. The rubber is flanged requiring removal from both sides. Very easy to remove after getting the handlbars out of the way. **beware...cover everything well to avoid scratching the paint/chrome. Strongly recommend poly bushings as a replacement.

SORRY FOR BEING LATE!!!!!!!

Thanks Woody!

You were correct about the three piece, rubber upper, rubber lower and a steel insert through the middle.

It works best if you remove the bottom lower rubber piece first then the top comes right out.
