OK, you ordered the right kit. Do the holes on the brackets line up with the bolts on the struts? Nothing changes as far as that geometry's concerned. You can literally hold onto the grommet that the backrest mounts to, undo the bolt, put the new bolt through the bag mount, and bolt it back up to the bike. It sounds like you've got the wrong brackets though. Have you measured the center-to-center distance on the mounts?

the kit lines up perfect. My problem is the gromets wont come off the stock bolts so i cant add to the mounts that come with the kit.

Ahhh, gotcha. WD40 is your friend. Spray them, let them sit, tap them with a hammer if necessary.

Give this site a try. They have the Edge Bracket install video which is very similar to the Easy Brackets.

Its very probable, that when installed, the person installing the detachables, used a plastic washer between the detachable and the bike. This would make it SEEM liker they won't come apart. Hold the Detachable part, and tap the bolt out with a mallet...DO NOT use a hammer..you don't want to tear up the threads...just in case you need them.

If that doesn't work (and I am pretty sure it will) then simply go to HD and buy a new detachable hardware kit...use the new ones, and your set. (45.00)
