Ok, I have been hanging around the forum doing a lot of reading and seeing modifications and have decided to upgrade my 2005 Softail Deluxe to a 21" front wheel. Going with either a DNA or Ride Wright wheel. What are my options for tires if I want to keep a whitewall? How wide of tire can I go? Any help would be appreciated.
What's the width of your front wheel? The largest front wheel that your '05 Deluxe will handle (w/out mod) is a 21x3.5 and the largest front tire is a 120/70-21. I have seen a 90/90-21 stretched to fit a 21x3.5 before; however, I wouldn't recommend it. Just in case you were wondering about the back: largest (w/out mod) is 18x4.25 wheel w/ 160/60-18 tire. This information is true for 2000-2010 heritage, deluxe, and springer classics. I would call Avon or whoever makes the tire you like and ask for fitment verification. Hope this helps.
You have two options ...Avon or Metzler ...both are gonna be a 90/90/21...Avon has a lower profile than a Metzler. Both tires will fit up to a 3.5" wheel with stretch. They don't make a 120 in a WW.
I just got 21x3.5 Fat Daddys from Ride Wright through a bike shop here in my area. I considered DNA, but wanted to go with white spokes and that apparently wasn't an option with DNA. The wheels came from Ride Wright with the tires on them. They are the MH90/21s from Metzler. The whitewall on the Metzler is taller than on the Avon. I hear both are good tires, though. I was a bit apprehensive about having that tire on a 3.5 wide wheel, but have seen it on several bikes and figure it will be OK if Ride Wright is putting it on. I did have them put a tube in it since my rear was going to have a tube anyway. Since I have 21x3.5 on the front, I don't feel any difference in the way it rides.
You might want to check out these 21" white wall tires. I just placed my pre-order. I can't believe someone is finally going to offer the 120/70/21 in a whitewall... I am sure we will see more 23's coming out since they also mention a 23" whitewall? Any one else heard any thing? Check it out www.hothawgz.com

That's a nice find. Now who's gonna be the ginny pig and buy one of these. $210.00 + shipping is costly. Considering i got my Avon for $138.00 shipped. Maybe Avon or Metzler will jump on board soon. Believe me i would like to stick a 120 on front with a WWW. Never heard of this brand tire though.(hothawgz)
