Default Wiring Question for Auxillary Lighting Kit

I just purchased an auxillary lighting kit for my 2010 Fat Boy. The new Fat Boys have the wiring for the signals and switches internally through the handlebars. It seems to me that the wiring is all tied together in there, which is where is why I am having a problem. Is there an easy way to to wire the new turn signals which are located under the passing lamps in the new kit I purchased, without taking off the handlebars and ripping the wiring out? I would then need to separate the wiring, and then re-fish the switch wires back through the handlebars again. Does anyone know an easier way, without simply cutting the existing turn signal wires and leaving live wires inside the handlebars?

Do you have the deluxe auxillary kit (p/n 68669-05)? Mine had a new wiring harness that plugged into the existing one under the tank; I didn't have to do anything with the internal handlebar wiring other than cutting the old signal wires off flush and tucking them up inside.

First, do you have the HD shop manual for the purpose of color coding the wires. The wires are very easy to trace coming out of the base of handle bars to where they enter just ahead of the fuel tank. The colors match the new turn signal wires you will add under the aux. lighting. They are in a conduit, on each side of the bike. I just did this on my 08. I clipped the old signal wires where they exit the handle bars at the controls, and pulled them down from where they go behind the tank. It took me a little bit to figire it all out. Make sure you remove all wire ties before attempting to pull them down should you go this route. This will give you plenty of excess to wire in the new turn signals. I soldered and heat shrunk all the connections and tucked them in, behind the head light. Stager the three connections on each signal so you dont end up with a clump. I dont mean to bable here, just give you some direction and ideas as to how to get this done, Just take your time and have a plan. It beats pulling the tank to get to the connections.

Thanks for taking the time to give such detailed directions. Actually a friend of mine got it finished this afternoon, but he did end up pulling the tank. It came out really nice.

Also thanks to Barney for his post.
