first off if you purchase a TTS you can change the idle.
why do you want to purchase a ecu?????
if you purchase a TTS by Master tune which is actually a newer version of the old SERT you will have access to change the idle as well as get the bike professionally tuned. and the tts will be yours.
tell us why you need a new ecm when you have one that works noe i dont under stand

You are correct. I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!! thats why i'm asking!!!!!! I am new to this stuff and thats what i thought you guys (these forums) were for. Second what the heck is a TTS?
The Harley race tuner has an idle table and YES you can lower the idle. But, has others have warned, if you go below spec the Twin Cam will not have enough oil pressure and top end lubrication will suffer. It still won't sound like Shovel and you will be prematurely wearing your engine out. Do yourself a favor and save your cash for a big bore, bump in compression, cams and headwork. It still won't sound like a shovel but will sound like a hot rod.
like you I have a softail custom when I purchased the bike I got the super tuner I did ask them to idle it down they did just that but it was set at 950 so after i broke in the bike and I had the software I idled it lower its at 820 now and im not worried about eng problems I have a twin cam 88 thats running fine after 5 yrs its carbed it idles lower than 820 am I qualified you ask ive been a mech all my life from autos to helicopter A/P mech I think the dealer should idle it down even if it dont have a super tuner I pretty sure they have the capibilty to do so its my beleave that if the low oil pressure light dont come on or flicker it should be fine also the super tuner software has a lower limit of 800 also this lower limit is dependent on the eng temp if the eng is cold the lower limit is 1000 then it drops to 950 and then to what ever you set it to so if harley had oil flow problems they would make the lower limit at 950 or what ever this is my beleave the super tuner software is pretty intense to learn but once youve plaayed with its not so bad I had a power comander on my Vrod it was easy to use any way I thing the dealers dont want to lower it because like one dealer told me they wear afraid that to low could cause riding problems like at first start of from a red light it could go dead and cause yo to drop the bike one even told me it had to do with the lower end balance hog wash if its not balanced good enough to idle then it sure isnt good enough at 3000 rpm lol any way good luck with your bike
