Default Nooob crossbones questions

Hi all Ive got a couple of questions about my new crossbones.
I havent seen it or ridden it yet because I bought it while deployed to Iraq, I pick it in February when I go home for 2 weeks.
1. Can I put any forward controls for a FL softial on it or are there specific ones?
2. Drag bars and risers: Do I need to buy new risers to fit the dragbars or will the stock ones suffice?

Thanks in advance
Jake

First of all, thanks for your service and may God keep an eye on you until you return.
Forward Controls Yaa might want to try the ones that are on it first. I'm 6' and like them very much; I've always run forward controls on my bikes.

Drag bars If the center to center measurement is the same the original risers will work, and if they are the same thickness. Now, ride fast or stay home.

Thanks For Your Service. Come Home Safe! You will love your XBONES! I am still running the spring seat so the floorboards work good. If I switched to a regular seat, i would run forward controls too. I am 6'2 and this bike fits me well. Where do you call home?

Welcome home brother! Did you get your bike using ENCS???? Good **** huh! If so make sure the stealership does you right!! Check all your fluids mine were all REAL low when I brought my bike home. They are not making any kind of profit from you so stand your ground and make sure that everything is on the up and up before you drive away. Some dealerships are good some just want you out due to not making any money off ya!!!!

As far as your questions, yes you can but forwards on any softail but once you get used to floorboards you will not want to go back. JMO

Harleygoodies has some nice floorboard extensions that you may want to check out. He is a sponsor of this forum.

As far as bars, I would wait before you bought anything until you got home and sat on that bike if you have not already! Looks and comfort are a fine line.

Again, welcome back and keep your **** tight until you get home!

Sled- the "Bad Bones" is what I am goin for with this Thanks

Pussboy and Sea Daddy -I am planning to ditch the sprung seat,I sat on one before I deployed and had to have it, just not with the mini apes and the tractor seat. Nevada is home until I get back then it's Colorado.Yea I got through ENCS and I was thinking the same thing you said but I guess the dealer (Pikes Peak H-D)I'm picking it up from was rated pretty high for this from ENCS so I hope I don't have any problems.

I put on mine 33909-08. You have to buy footpegs separate. The brakepeg is included. Clean look and almost plug and play.
No other parts needed.
2.
Any bar with knurl center to center of 4,75" fits standard risers.

Thanks for making the world a better place Brother!

I live in the Springs....I know the folks at PPHD. Good folks and a good dealership for sure!

You will love it here. Lots of riding months as our weather is on the mild side...Blizzardish and icy last week? 60-65 degrees yesterday and some of the best riding areas in the country.

The only weird thing about the Springs?

Is the insane amount of of guys on Harleys!!

It will boggle your mind. I wanna say there are more Harleys per capita here than anywhere in the country...Why?

Ft.Carson, Peterson AFB, Cheyenne Mountain Missle Defense, Air force Academy....Retirees, Civilian contractors, locals who have been enjoying the mountains for years...

Defenders of freedom....Love them some Harley Davidson Motorcycles!!

First of all, thank you for your service and keep your head down and weapon clean.

Now on to the question at hand.
An XBones FLSTSB is a Softail, not a touring bike like a RoadKing FLHR and needs parts (like the pegs) that are made to fit a Softail frame.

The designation for a X-Bones is FLSTSB so that tells you that the front end is an FL (heavy touring style), the ST is the frame type, Softail, and the SB is the sub type or model with the S meaning it has the springer front fork assembly from an FL and the B means its painted and accessorized as a X-Bones.

All that mumbo jumbo lettering crap tells you that any parts designed to fit on a Softail frame, like the pegs, Tri-Bar tailight and a wide assortment of other goodies (almost all of which are expensive as hell) will fit and unless otherwise stated should be no more than a bolt on proposition.
