i just changed my pads lo lyndals and the back of the package didn't say anything about breaking in. heck i didn't even know you were supposed to break in pads.
If it's not printed on the back of the package, Disregard break in proceedures. The "Gold" (ret.60.oo) needs break in. The "Z-Plus"(ret.45.oo)brand needs no break in.
I can't answer what would happen if they're not broke in. If it said to break in,i broke in. This directly from Lyndall:"During initial break in procedure, a microscopic coating is transfered to the rotor creating a carbon/carbon breaking action that is at once protective of the rotor and enhances the effectiveness of the braking. If you want to get full effectiveness of these brakes,break in will assure this." It's up to you. I've installed these on my race bikes and for my customers. It's my job to make sure mfg's guidlines are adheared to. Refering to the Gold series brand. I'm not saying you won't be able to stop your bike. I just follow the guidlines set fourth by the manufacture. My customers depend on that. But to each his own.
