I have read at least a dozen posts that said they put on 12s or 14s and wished they went to the 16s. I think I will take everyones advise on this and start with 16s.
I went with 14's and hope to install them this weekend.
I received my bars about 2 weeks after I ordered them. Packaging was excellent. I read previous posts where people didn't like the packaging not in my case. Only complaints I have are in regards to shipping they never sent out a shipping notice until after I received the bars. Also I called a couple of days after my order and asked to have the standard cables be switched with the chromite cables over an answering machine. Never had a response and got the standard cables delivered.
The pin connectors have to be crimped onto the wires in order to assemble them in the detush connecters.
Not neccessarily true.
Once all pins are removed from the Deutsch connector, the 18AWG wire easily solders onto a new pin. Use a 10 watt pencil iron, typically used for circuit board work. Since the soldered joint in recessed into the connector once assembled, flexibility issues with the wire/joint are not a concern.
Did my Fatboy (13" apes) two months back. Piece of cake!
Got mine in a week. I'm very satisfied with the whole deal. I had 10's then '09 fatboys. I was going with 14's and changed my mind at the last min. and got 16's. Bill

Nice bike bama. I also have a heritage. Are the 16s comfortable and ride easy? I am 5'-10" and have sat on the bike and closed my eyes and put my hands where I would like them to be when I ride and it seems like it is somewhere around a 14 or 16.
Sorry Doc, I haven't ridden it yet but they feel very comfortable. I have my bike torn down at the moment doining a front and rear lowering and some other stuff. I also have an Ice Age seat so it sits lower which makes the bars a little higher. My Bro in law has 14s and loves them. I'm also 5'10" and Bro in law is about 5'9".Bill
Just started my installation. Down to where I need to remove the deutche connector from the old wires. That is not a problem I have that all figured out. My problem is I wasn't given any pin connectors with the new apes. Can I use the old pin terminals or do I need to get new ones? Where can I get some new pin terminals if needed? With my limited experience with wiring it seems like it would be easiest to just use pin terminals vs soldering the wires. Please help any one if you can.
thanks

I wouldn't reuse the old pin ends, for sure. Sorry, don't know where to get them in a hurry.
I asked that question when I was crimping mine on- what if I screw one up?
If your bars came from HCC they'll be in a little plastic bag taped to the bubble wrap at midpoint of the handlebars, with some little screw and some tie wraps.
