I am replacing my control cables and brake lines with braided Magnum units.
For the clutch, I will need to pull the clutch release cover to access the cammed ramp that the clutch cable ferrell attaches to.
Looks straightforward in the HD service manual but it doesn't mention how much clearance I need to pull the cover off. My V&H power pipe is directly opposite the cover with a little over a half inch clearance. I assume the cover will need to be pulled away from the engine case a certain amount to free it.
Wanted to find out in advance if I am okay with the pipe where it is or if I will have to unbolt the exhaust (hopefully not).
I've done it twice. You don't have to take off the exhaust. Its tight but you will be fine. You will need snap ring pliers to get the cable out of the ramp inside.
forgot to tell you....I never replaced the old gaskets either time i did it and never had a problem. But, they are cheap and wouldn't be a bad idea to replaced it
Make your life alot easier pull your pipe. Pipes are very easy to take off. Sometimes cutting corners can cause you more headaches and time. It also looks like you have a tight sqeeze between your allen bolts/pipes. I took my pipes off when i did mine...

I have V&H Short Shots on my Fatty and I had to pull my back pipe b/c I couldn't get two of the bolts out all the way. I twas so easy once I pulled that pipe.
the first couple posts don't take into consideration that it appears u have a 2 into 1 setup (much wider @ the trans). a shaved-down allen key may gain you access to the lower 2 bolts from underneath, but for how simple it would be to just loosen your exhaust or even remove it altogether (and have the opportunety to clean all that crap u haven't been able to reach) i would'nt even waste my time with the headache of squeezing snap-ring pliers into there, or squeezin the cover out of there, or trying NOT to fold/damage the gasket.....etc hope this helps
if you don't pull the exhaust, you're gonna have a fun time getting the bottom 2 bolts out... save yourself a lot of headaches and pull the exhaust..and replace the gasket..they are cheap....not sure why some people have issues with replacing gaskets...most gaskets aren't meant to be reused...not saying you can't reuse...but after all the effort of taking "whatever" off....why reuse the gasket?
