Guys I have a problem. I bought some Cycle Visions Baggertail mounts for my 2009 Deluxe. I have 2 problems. First, the bags hit the grab rail on my seat. Even if I take off the rail, there still is not enough room. So I thought I would modify the brackets to move them back and down. If I do that my Samson Longtails will hit. I have the (I believe) 23 1/2 inch mufflers. What the heck can I do? I want to keep the stock seat and passenger pillion. Wife loves to ride. Does anyone have any longer Samson mufflers for sale cheap or trade? Get a different seat? I need to be able to ride solo style and still add the pillion. Please help me out! Anubisss where are you..........
What part of the pipes hit the bags? is it the tips? Get some longer fishtail extensions that stick out behind the bags. what is there not enough room for after you take the grab rail off? The bags still hit the seat? If so get yourself a nice low profile LaPera or something. The deluxe seat is notoriously wide. Don't know anything about the bagger tail as I have never installed one, but I am sure this is some kind of solution. Good news is it can be done. Bad news is it will msot likely cost.
The pipes don't hit yet. If I move the bags down and back to clear the seat the tips will hit. Is there a seat available that allows use of the stock pillion or will I have to replace that as well? As far as the pipes being longer, are longer mufflers the only solution?
It sounds like you either need longer pipes or a different seat or both depending on how you want you bike to look. I had some 26" baffleless slip on's on my biker before the setup I have now. They were just about even with the rear fender. That would probably fix all your problems. But...you better measure the fishtails you have now so you can be sure.
You'll be pressed to find an aftermarket seat that you can use your HD passenger pillion with. Anubisss and I aren't rockin' bags, so its not something that we are facing, but I think he's pointing you in the right direction.
I have a sidekick seat made by Harley for when I ride a passenger. It is very narrow and would not get in the way of any bags. Find some pics and check it out, however it is a one piece 2 up seat.
I have the Baggertail kit on my '05 Deluxe using the stock seat. I'm rocking the FL hardbags. In order to make the bags fit with my seat, I had to bump out the kit which takes no real modifications. The lower section mounts to the outside of the frame vs. the inside, and I'm only using the outside bolt on the lower rear mount. On the top, I have a quick release sissy bar mount, and I placed the bracket on the outside of the mount. I imagine you can use spacers if you don't have a sissy bar bracket. This bumped everything out about even and the seat clears by about 1/4 -1/2 inch. As far as the pipes, I'd need to go to minimum of 33" extensions to clear my hardbags. I haven't gone to fishtails yet, but have done all the research. Anyway, this outside mount I describe is what Cycle Visions recommended when I talked with them.
I bought the Mustang #76185 - 15" Vintage Sport Solo Only
Softail 2007-2010 (Standard Rear Tire)
Also 2005-2010 Deluxe,
It mounts like the stock seat and the stock passenger pad fitts right on with no problem. The seat looks good solo too. For comfort, it is way better than the stock seat.

Hope this helps!
If you need chrome spacers, go to Ace hardware, they have all different sizes.
Definately gonna try this! I am using the filler panels as well, so it should help hide the extra gaps. Thanks for all the input. I would like to go to the 33" as well. Maybe later if this works out for me...
