Looking for reviews and opinions between these two quick release mounting systems. Barebacks Easy Brackets
I have the harley bolt on bags for my softail custom. With the easybrackets I'd have to remove the factory bracket on the bag to mount the new one, but they lock with a key. With the barebacks, they use the factory mounting bracket but they don't lock.
Anybody using either one? Any thoughts between the two?

Everyone I know has bareback. They are unobtrusive, simple and of course easy. Get the chrome cap that covers the bolt and you are still looking like a show bike.

I have the easy bracket setup and love it... sturdy, easy on and off & it locks. I had to buy the additional deuce bracket that you wouldn't need. And when the bags are off, the bike still looks great.
I never had the stock brackets so I don't know how much farther... but I can tell you that on the bike, the easy brackets are about 1 1/4" visible from the top. Bags are that far from the fender.
I just put the HOG Deluxe solo bags on my Deluxe and they include the Easy Brackets. On the HOG Deluxe bags these brackets are recessed into the back of the bags so the gap is very minimal - I like that. As for the Easy Brackets themselves, they are okay but I had a little trouble messing with the locking mechanism to get it to work smoothly. For me they are a small hassle to take on and off but no big deal. The mounting posts look fine with the bags off. The bags are on in a very stable manner and don't rattle or anything. I would recommend them.
ez brackets. Have used them on 2 different set of bags. I like that they lock. Never had a problem installing or removing bags. Have never seen barebacks so I can not compare for you. This is with the hd quick detach sissy bar setup and ez bracket kit. Dont think you can go wrong with either setup.
I tried the barebacks. They work but any saddle bags on the FX softails with 200MM rear ends make them look funny in the rear. With the barebacks making it a couple more inches wider, I didn't like the look at all. I sold the bags and barebacks, got a sissy bar and barrel bag cheap on ebay, and can carry just as much stuff and looks much better IMO.
