01 FXST tail light Upgrade Question..

01 FXST tail light Upgrade Question..
Hi Guys,
I have an 01 FXST and I wanted to upgrade my rear light to do both
1 - Add running light to my signals (mininum)
2 - Add LED (optional)
3 - Add Flashing brakes (optional)
I saw the following kit on Ebay by Kuryakyn but it states '02' and up !
I also saw this other kit here, but it would require buying the lights etc..and it adds the 'flasher' thingy.
Finally there is the cheap module here but again with the '02' and up.
Something changed in the bike electric lights from 01 to 02 it seem ? what is it ?
I am lost and not sure where to start even, I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Have you conciedered Biketronics? I use the BT400 unit on my 07 FXST, installed it in '07 works great and no problems.

I put a Kuryakyn lo-pro smoked LED tail light in my 2001 FXSTB-I. Its a plug and play. 15min job. They also make a tail light flash module but I dont have it. I run Silverstar blinker bulbs, not as bright as LED's but I dont have to use load equalizers. Hope it gives you another option.

I think I am going to do excactly just that, I will get the Flasher/running day light combo + the LED Kuryakyn.. I do not want load equalizers as they heat up a lot and I ride my bike often and I insist on the running day light thing.
