Default Oil Tank Covers

Wouldn't it be cool if someone would make metal Softail oil tank covers? You could buy the correct oil tank covers, powder coat your covers to match your bike and just snap them in place. Someone could sell thousands of them to softail owners. Does anyone know if they are available now?

I have bought black wrinkle parts and replaced them on the reast of my bike, but the labor cost to pull and replace the oil tank is cost prohibitive.

I thought about that myself. They do make them for Sportser's. I think one could get rich off the product.
It is also messy, no matter how long you let the oil drain the tank is never empty so removing it makes a mess.
Takes about 2-3 hours including removing the rear tire.

I have removed my oil tank a couple of times. It really is not to hard at all. You do have to pull the rear tire off and thats about it!

The oil tank acts as sort of an oil cooler on Softails. I wouldn't want anything trapping extra heat in there.

That said, I wish somebody would make high temp decals that would stick and look good on an oil tank. Something like the crossbones oil tank (although the X-bones might be painted on). I bought one of those oil tank "trademark" decals and it only lasted a couple of days and left a smudge on the tank.

Ok. So maybe a black finned magnetic wrap around or two-piece wrap. Hell ya. That would look good and help to dissipate the heat.
