Default Carb Tuner Kit

I bought my bike used a year ago. It had V&H short shots. I have since put Big City Thunder baffles on and I have my eye on the Roland Sands Venturi air filter if I can get a good deal on it. I have no idea if there was any carb tuning done when the original owner put the V&H on. Is it worth doing if I get the new air filter? Does anyone have any feedback on the Stage 1 Carb Tuner Kit from Harley-performance.com?

Before you buy a kit, pull your plugs to see if they are a nice tan color. If so, your carb is jetted properly. If your plugs are black (rich) or white (lean), then you will have to re-jet your carb. If you already have V&H short shots on the bike, you probably already have a stage 1 air cleaner on your bike. Changing to the Roland Sands Venturi air filter shouldn't make any difference.

Thanks! You're right, I forgot to mention that I have a SE air filter. The switch to the Roland Sands would just be because I think it looks bad ***. I'm thinking upgrading the cams would be a better use of money. I have done some research but I have a few questions.

Can I upgrade to the SE 04 cams without doing anything else like installing new pushrods? I have found differing opinions on this.

Is there a better option than the SE 204 that would require minimal or no other modifications. My scoot is a 2002 88 inch FXSTS (carb). I'm trying to give the bike more power and a meaner sound without breaking the bank.

Did you have to replace the pushrods when you installed the cams?

Regarding the pushrod's, you do not have to replace them if you remove your gas tank, rocker boxes, and rocker arms. That way you can pull the pushrod's up from the top. Otherwise, it is easy to cut them with a bolt cutter and put in adjustable pushrod's. It just depends on what you want to save........time or money!!
