Default bottom motor case oil drain?

Oil tank is empty , got about 1 qt out of it. The rest of the oil is in the motor, got by the check ball I guess. Can I remove the bolt on the bottom of the motor cases(evo) to drain out the sump? Bikes not running and has been sitting a long time.

I held my breath and undid the plug. The oil drained like crazy. The bike was sitting so long the oil went into the motor and filled it up. I was afraid to try and turn it over with that much oil in the bottom end.

Be careful re-installing the plug. People say you can crack the cases.

If you all got is 1 QT something is wrong. "There should only be about a half a quart left in the engine after draining the oil. You used to plug under the motor as opposed to the proper oil drain plug that is under the oil tank on the left side of the frame? If you want to drain the rest of the oil properly get the Rogue chopper attachment and use that. Still, why was there only 1 qt of oil in the tank? If you all got is 1 QT something is wrong. It's common for the bikes softails to drain down after some time sitting. You can crank it, run it and the oil tank will fill back up. That way you are getting most of the oil back out.

I removed that plug by accident on my first oil change about 4 years ago. Don't mess with anymore.
