This issue is turning out to be more complicated that it should be.
I am trying to pick out a new seat for my 2004 Fatboy. I purchased this bike 3 years ago and it came with the OEM seat and pillion, and a Corbin solo.
I originally ran with the Corbin, because it looked great on the bike, but it wasn't that great on function due to SBS (Sore Butt Syndrome). Not if this the way the Corbins are, or because someone else had worn it in for 4k.
Also, my kid was begging for a ride so I changed back to the OEM seat. That sucks, too. Can't do 150 miles without assistance of a chiropractor.
Here's the problem: I'm a big guy (6'3", 275). The seats on the market seem to favor the smaller riders.
I'm working on the weight issue, but I'm kind of stuck with the height problem.
I've seen the other positive posts regarding the H-D Sundowner and Saddlemen King, and have gone to my local dealer who set up a Sundowner for me to sit on.
While it's great support and all, it pushes my riding position forward more than I am comfortable with due to the arch of the seat. This may be great for smaller/shorter riders; not so much for me. Makes me feel like I'm on training wheels.
HD does now offer a Tallboy seat, which looked great, but only for 07-up.
Any ideas? I'd really like to get some real rides in this year.
A couple of suggestions for you. First get some floorboard extensions. Second get some highway pegs and a crash bar if you don't already have one. Try that. You will have a lot more room for your legs. You could also send your tock seat to Mean City Cycles for a mod where he will move you back, forward, higher lower, etc on your stock seat and use memory foam if you like. He is highly recommended around these parts. Or you could try forward controls for your ride, but I far prefer my floorboards with extensions and crash bar. Another more expensive option yet is to get another seat you like and then send it to Mean City Cycles and have them make it perfect. Or, send your corbin to them and see what they can do. You could also look into different bars as they have the ability to really affect how you sit on your bike. I run apes and find them afar more comfortable than anything else. Just my .02
have you tried extending your legs.Board ext. highway pegs. Some guys say that changes there sitting position.
+1 on the extentions. you can always have the Sundowner reworked by Mean City Cycles (I think they are in North Carolina, & used to be sponsors). they can "move" you back and down, thus giving you more leg room. they can also put in memory foam. I had them rework a softail standard seat that I put on my FatBoy. works great!

Dr. V-Twin nailed it.
I had the same dilemma with seats; sore azz, leg cramps, etc. The best improvement was the crash bar and highway pegs. Seat is still uncomfortable.
Yeah, I was actually looking into adding pegs on already. Not sure about the apes. I was looking at changing the bars eventually, so it's something to consider. I'm not uncomfortable as reach is concerned. The Sundowner just felt like I was sitting right on the gas tank.
I understand the purpose of the rise is to support your back, but it seems like that would conflict with stretching your legs out.
I also got a feed from a friend suggesting the Saddlemen Endangered. It's solo, but I can add the pillion.
It's rough trying to decide without actually sitting on one.
I ordered my seat from the guys at C&C Seats. They got my height and asked a few questions before they started building the seat. I rode 1000 miles in 18 hours with that seat and never complained about it once. They have a customer for life with me.

I feel the same. Call Chuck at C & C Seats . I have ridden on one for 4 years and found it to be the best seat Ive tried. It moved me back and down and I can ride all day
