Default Tail-Draggin Softail

I just purchased a 2003 Softail Nightrain and want to put a taildragger fender on it. Arlen Ness seems to have the most popular fender but are there any other options out there that may be a bit easier on the wallet? Any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Post up some pix of what you're looking at... You thinking about the front or the back fender? Congrats on your new bike it's a great ride to start modding.

On the back of my Train is a Deluxe fender that I bought for about $150.00 and had it smoothed and shaved... You may also want to check out Klock Werks... They have a nice streched version of of the same fender.

That is bitchin. Were the mods extensive or was it pretty straight forward?

If you can provide part numbers I'll see what kind of a deal I can work for you on those Ness fenders or whatever other brands you are interested. Pm with info if interested. If not, just ignore this. Drew

Thanks... for the kinds words.

It was easy... I was going to buy the Klock Werks fender and was looking on craigslist like I do everyday and Bam... Someone was selling a deluxe fender on Island... Same year fatboy or deluxe will bolt up just fine same with the Klock Werks they come pre drilled. The hardest part was wiring the turn sig's with Dog Eyes in them and running the new wires since mine are running under the strut covers. The Dog Eyes in the Sigs are running light, brake light in red LED's and a aber ring of LED's for turn signals. Oh yah... under your bobtail fender is a support bracket that will have to be cut, no biggie though I use a hack saw and a file to smooth the edges.

Thanks for the info. I'm running with no turn signals so that won't be an issues. Where did you get that kickstand?

Klockwerks 2" stretch here. Anyway, I looked at them all. None are cheap. I personally only liked the way the Taildragger looks on a ridiculously slammed bike with an 18" rim/low profile tire. Anything other than that and the look is just not right. Don't rush into anything. Oh yes, be sure to get the fender in steel and not glass. On the highway, that glass will wiggle like a stripper. JMHO... Good Luck....

I got it on Ebay... With this one you'll have to drill and tap the frame.

pretty much same as this one... Keep in mind that with a rear kickstand it does not lockout like the stock jiffy stand so you really have to be aware of how and where you park. And always park the bike in gear.
