Default Question for jockey shift guys

Is it normal for the shifter to have a lot of lateral movement? The shifter can really shake side to side a fair bit and I don't know if that's normal or not.

Honkylips:
That's not normal, mine doesn't even move side to side less than a 1/16 of an inch. Check it out something must be loose or a shim is missing. What make is it?

If it's a LaBriola, swap out the bolts that came with it back to your original bolts. That should snug it up.

**If I didn't explain it right, PM me, or do a search under Jockey Shift. Chazmanian encountered the same problem and explained the fix in detail.**

DOn't think it's the chrome bolts causing the problem, cause not only does the Labriola shifter arm move, but the little arm coming out of the tranny (that the stock shifter linkage bolted to) moves as well, so I must have something going on internally.

I know this is an old thread, but what ever came of this issue. I am having the same thing with my jockey install. It's the whole shaft moving in and out at least 1/4". My bike is an 05 deuce if that helps any.

Are you running a heavy ****? Friends shift shaft broke twice due to this.

Not using a heavy ****. I am in the middle of installing the jockey now. Just went out back to the garage to check if it was the bolts, they are ok. The shaft itself coming out of the trans is moving in and out a good 1/4 inch. Also another question I have, is it normal to be able to pull back on the clutch pedal? Cause there is not any sort of stop to keep tension on the clutch cable.

Normal to be able to pull back on the clutch pedal.

Are you using the chrome nut & bolt that come with the kit? If so, try and use what was on there before.

I tried both bolts and had the same issue. Is there supposed to be in and out play in the shaft and if so how much is normal?
