Hey Twist, No I didn't sand after the base coat. And I did use the engine enamel clear. And I used another clear, but I can't think of what brand it was right now.

Chop On,
Robert

^ cool. some type of automotive clear?

Maddox - I had bought a spray gun for the occasion a while back but never used it, ended up selling it. Cans are just way easier to get my hands on and use. Im the guy that hangs stuff from the ceiling in the screened in porch and sprays - havent had any probs so far. A couple times I got too excited and snagged the part before it was finished drying and messed it up, but I just learned to be more patient.

I've got a buddy who bought an old kitchen oven off craigs list and stuck it in his garage just so he could bake paint in. I think he's even done some of his own powder stuff. I'm real fortunate in that I've got access to good size ovens for chemical use and a sandblaster at work. And I work in computers.

Patience is the key for sure. Trying to rush is the only fault that I have with the stuff that I painted. Sprayed it a little too thick and handled it a little too early. I did my lowers, drag bar, and rear turn signals all using tips that I read on this forum. No pics yet but when the weather is better here I will post updated ones.

You have to be more specific as to what parts you are blacking out. What is used and how it's prepped could be different depending on what part is being blacked out.

Good point, i wanna black out my 09 flstf, most the parts i wanna black out are currently chrome, my order of priority are strutts, and basically the whole front, the light tin, the tins that are on the forks and the whole fork assembly, those are all chrome, eventually wanna do the wheels too.
