Don't sweat that bone head, troll -aviator, obviously ate up and never fully adjusted to civilian life so he has to talk down to people to feel like he's still in.
You're feeding right back into this after it's already died down, why don't you leave it alone as well? By the way, I spent 12 years on active duty, and in all honesty it is hard to remember to "candy coat" things for people.
I've become glad I'm carbed. This is my first stage one setup and I find it still lean at idle, but I can work with that and not need my banker.
Always the mechanic of some means, I notice NO ONE said anything about going by the plugs as indicators or the way the bike runs. It would be the first thing I'd be looking at. All the info is a couple of keystrokes away.
thats why stealers are called stealers!! you did the right thing gettin a harley, you will learn a lot as you go!! part of the enjoyment!!
from when i was young i always wanted a harley, everyone i knew with a bike rode or raced rockets,i rode dirt bikes, but always wanted a harley, for 20 years i got flamed for wanting a slow assed ,oil drippin scoot, the hatin and baggin all comes from the metric crew rocker!!
welcome to the site
As time goes by you learn who to ask questions to. Worst source for accurate information is a dealer. Try to zero in on a few individuals that really know their chit and life will be much easier. This can save a lot of aggrivation and running around in circles. Then you won't be doing this
Ron
couldn't have said it better myself man !!!
and don't trade in your bike, that's a hell of a bike you've got there. you can make it look like whatever you want to, the possibilities are endless.
once you're on the Harley for a few years you'll better understand why some of the old timers are the way they are. don't let that bother you. keep the bike and take this as a lesson learned.
One thing you have to remember is that this is not rocket science. This is a Delphi EFI system that GM used on cars in the '80's. Yes it is updated a little but the basic system is the same. I went to one dealer a couple weeks ago to get mine on the dyno and this writer was all over me and how I screwed up my bike buy tunning it my self. I've been tunning cars for 30+ years. This guy told me it would cost me approx $700 to tune this bike, no wonder why people hate these guys. For that kind of money I'll buy what I need and do it myself and that way I know it will be right.
Sorry for the soapbox talk, but with just pipes you are fine, I would do some sort of fuel managment system as it will help take the heat out of the bike, makes it more fun to ride. It is well worth it IMO good luck with your Rocker and enjoy it and like said many times in this thread just listen to one person that has the knowlege.
D - dude, I learned a couple years ago, that if your going to the stealer for ANYTHING, especially service, you had better stop and grab some KY cause they are gona have their way with you and not call the next day. Ive gone in a couple times more recently just looking for a couple bolts, "why do you need these?" - cause I am doing it myself "haha, ok, we'll see you in a couple days when you cant get it put back together!" - turns out the bastards didnt even have the bolts, the same bolts that they should all be replacing on any suspension job that comes through the doors. enough on that
Ive met you, live near you, and ridden with you - and I'm tellin you, our two dealers are ridiculous. I had my Hookers, basically big radius for almost a year before I did anything to the AC or fuel management. I never had a problem. Do the V&H, ride with em for a while, when you can afford it, get a new ac and comp and even if they do offer a flash, dont do it! For the amount they charge for a flash, your damn near buying a power commander. If you get the power commander and are worried about installing it, call me and I'll help you install it man, you still have my number.
There's another option you might want to consider, you can buy a pair of Xieds. I bought a pair of used ones for $50.00. I've got Rush 2.0 and a SE heavy breather on my rocker and it runs fine.
