So, I need to drop my *** end and I don't have the coin for air or even for the 422s right now. I was thinking about getting a set of the $20 bolts but have seen a couple of the progressive kits for $100.
So, I might be able to swing the $100 if it's a substantial improvement in ride. If not, I'd rather just go with the $20 bolts.
But I stumbled across a discontinued kit for progressives that aren't chrome but are advertised for 2000 - 2006. Now, I thought the rear shocks were the same from 2000+. Am I wrong? Do you think this kit will fit? For $20 I'm inclined to try it unless someone tells me for sure they aint gonna work.
Get the burnout cycles kit from JP cycles. I know a couple guys that run it and are happy. It is adjustable and you don't have to disassemble the shocks. That is what I am going with soon ($70).
If you are going to buy the lowering bolts, just buy the $ 20 ones off of Ebay, they are basically the same thing as the $ 100 bolts from HD. I have 9K miles on the el cheapo ones from Ebay with no problems.

+1. this is the kit that I used and Im very happy with it.I dont have a press and the tools to disasemble the stock shocks or I might have just used the bolts. the burnout kit doesnt require any shock disasembly and its fully adjustable for the height that you want.

Agreed...just tighten them up and ur ride will be ok. $20.00 sounds alot better than $100.00 for the same thing.
2000' - later... are the same.
These are the progressives I was talking about. Has anyone used these?
I think I read someplace that they have a preload which softens the ride a little versus just extending the shock which, from what I understand, stiffens up the rear end. You can find these on ebay for $100. I just happen to have found a set for $20 (but not chrome - which I don't care about) but it states that they are 2000 - 2006.
