Might want to check out Hill Country Customs. They can set you up with the bars, cables and extended wiring in a nice package at a reasonable price. Alot of guys on here have went with them and are more than satisfied with the results. Just a suggestion.
I just finished my second set of apes on my bike. Did both installs myself, the second was yesterday and I did it alone. I am slow and tedious so it took me about 10-11 hours total. That counts digging throug the service manual and all that too. I still have to bleed the front brake but I also installed a new console and wasted some time jacking with my new SS fuel cross over line. My dealers have always said 1K - $1200 for them to do it. Waaaaay too much for me.

I second Hill Country Custom Cycles. I got my cables and wiring kit from them. At a great price also....
Myfhfb06-
how long did it take you to complete everything? Did you do the internal wiring, and do I need any special tools to get it done?
I just dont want to leave my bike in pieces in my driveway overnight...Im sure I could use my buddies garage if I could do it in a weekend.
I would say that you should be able to do it in a weekend. I really don't know how long it took me for sure because I spread it out over a couple of weeks because I wasn't rushing to get it done due to the weather around here. Just get a service manual and check old threads that give suggestions.
Both of my installs took me about 12-14 hours total. I still havn't bled the front brake. But I am tedious about stuff so I am probably slower than most.
yeah do it yourself,if you get all correct cables and hoses should be sweet!just take it slow!! by the way! 16" apes will look mean on a heritage, those and fattys are made for em! apes or beach bars
Was doing some research and found my original specs on the here on the Harley site. According to the chart my stock rise is 12". This may be a dumb question but is it correct that if I buy 16" bars they will be 4" higher than my stock? Like I said, dumb question but I want to be sure.
I checked out the Hill Country website and defiantly looks like a solid place to buy from.
