Default 05' FXST (Softail Standard) Electrical Help

I went to start my 05' Softail in December and all i got was a click from the starter and everything went dead. No headlight, not instruments, etc...

The battery is brand new and has a full charge, putting out nearly 13 volts. All fuses are good.

When i turn the ignition on, the speedo needle will move and then i get the normal little buzz when i turn the ignition off again but no indicator lights or anything else.

I have just started to look into what the problem is and i do have full power getting to the ignition switch but i have not gone any further yet. I am gonna pick up a service manual this evening (just because i need to anyway).

Anyone have some advice or pointers on where the problem may be or the best path to take on the wiring harness to track where i am loosing power?

Thanks,
Clint

1st check to see if the fuse block is being powered. If not, trace backwards toward the ignition switch.

That's exactly what mine did when the battery died. Have you had it load tested?

Default Electrical Problems

I have had to many electrical problems that i have banged my head tiring to figure them out. One thing i learned, alway start simple, don't dive in to deep to quickly. Sounds like a ground problem. Check your ground terminal and fuses first.

Good Luck

Thanks to all...

The battery has been tested and is good to go. All fuses are good...

I have gotten too busy this week to work on it but i will be going through grounds, etc... this weekend.

Wish i had something that showed where all the grounds are
