Does it still flex like you stated above?
I needed to purchase: trans cover gasket, a Qt of trans fluid, brake fluid, some solder and shrink wrap, new grips if wanted. A few other small things that I cant remember now.

I had HCC send me some new poly bushings made by Drags Specialties. They feel good now. The flex takes the pressure off of the risers... it makes sense and you get used to the small movement. It takes away the threat of pulling back on the bars and having them in your lap.

Good Luck

So all you Jersey guys need to move to VA...cause I def can't afford to pay anyone to do it...Especially if I want to get it painted this winter.
Its really not that bad. Just plan it out, get your parts ahead of time, get a manual and print up as much info off of this site as possible. The write-ups and pics from different posts on here is what got me through the job. Take your time and dont get overwhelmed. The ends DEFINATLY outweigh the means!

Great post! You covered everything involved! I wish I'd had this detailed info a couple years ago when I was doing my apes.

This thread needs to be a "sticky" at the top of the forum... make it easy to send all the folks asking ape install questions here.

BTW, great looking bike!!!

Wow all I can say I wish this post was up when I did my bars it would have saved me a lot of trouble.
As far as bar height I used 16"s and at 6' I'm very happy with them.
They come just below my sholders. I think a bit has to do with body type as I have more height in my torso so that might be somthing to factor in as well as the angle you set the bars at.
Nice job by the way and I do like the color Fatty you chose I wish it was aviable in 07.
One thing I might suggest is the you run your break line on the other side of the bar then you can tie all the cables together and tie it at the base of the bar for a cleaner look.

Just wanted to throw out a thanks for this post Ballsout...I ended up doing a 16 in HCC kit and saved a ton of cash doing it myself...this post and others were my deciding factor in doing it myself.

Sorry the pic sucks...
