Thanks for all your help guys.. Next payday I will definitely get some stuff ordered. I use my bike a bunch for commuting and need the bags, but I sure do love the look without them. Now I will be able to come home from work, click off the bags, sissy bar, and windshield and be at bike night in time to get a good spot!!
The barebacks are a nice option. They are very easy to use and only leave a couple small nubs on the struts when removed. They don't look bad by any means. My only gripe is that they are not lockable making it pretty easy for a low class thief to walk away with your bags if given the chance.
I will be using HD quick detach hardware for the backrest along with Barebacks for the bags.
As far as locking, I have been looking into a locking **** for the bolt where the bottom support bracket mounts, similar to those used for radar detector mounts and that type of electronic. I just need to see if there is enough clearance to use them. Found a few companies but I can't remember the names at the moment. Thule also uses them on their bike and ski racks.
