Default Heritage front end shake

Hi
My buddy Ron has a 2006 heritage @ 17.000mi. he said up intell last year he could take his hands off the handle bars while riding with no problems and now he has a shake if he trys this could this be that the front tire has 17,000mi.on it? It has good tread left or maybe something else is wrong? So he asked me to write and see if anyone could comment..Thanks..

Check air pressure in the tire first. Then check the steering head bolt torque. Then think about the tread on the tire.

Tire out of balance? Next Like the doc said. Check the steering nut, Finally if thats didn't help pull it and check the neck bearings. Pretty unusual for one to go @ 17k but, not unheard of.

Steering neck bolt (adjustment), then tire. Easily could be that 17k tire.
Very often it's one of those two.

I had the same problem on my 2000. It turned out to be the sterring neck was a little loose. What you do is lift the bike evenly off the ground, so that both tires are the same off the ground. then put the handle bars straight. if they move on there own to the side you are too loose. If so just tighten the nut on the bottom a little to the point that it does't move on its own. good luck

Interesting point. I have heard before about front end wobbles being caused by rear wheel problems. Not uncommon.

Had the exact same symptoms on the Heritage that I just bought. Plus, it would wobble a little on deceleration. Tightened the adjustment on the neck bearings, and the problem was gone.

I had the same problem when running between 35 and 40 mph and for some reason one day it just stopped. We thought it was the tire or maybe the spokes. We wasnt sure. However we never found anything wrong with it. It just stopped. I hope u find the issue. I may have to test soe of the things i see here to make sure my probem doesnt come back.
