How is this bike on the highway? Does it get blown around? Seems like it would for some reason when sitting on it.
Handle?
I read about what everybody likes so what are the down sides to this bike honestly?
This bike is great on the highway. It doesn't blow around any more than any other large bike. The same goes for handling, it's low ground clearance is not meant for high-speed twisties or tight turns, unless you like to hear the sound of the floorboards scraping the pavement! For what this bike is intended to do (cruise comfortably), it's one awesome ride!
The Softail Deluxe is 98% the same as any other FL Softail.
The main differences are cosmetic, ergonomic (closer seat and pull back risers), and the Deluxe is lowered one inch in the rear.
That's it. It will ride and handle like any other lowered FL Softail.
Exactly. I get tired of hearing people say the Deluxe was designed for women and short people. If you scrap the pullback risers and change the seat then its like any other FLST. The fact that its an inch lower is a bonus too because a Fatboy looks like a jackass from the factory these days, they need a 1 inch drop bad!
Just put Heritage risers on the 'luxe, perfect for me now. Didn't have access to equipment so I took the cheater way out Whiplush. :-) Bikini bars have shipped, should install them this weekend. Should not have to swap out cables. Even with the original bars it's still uber comfortable.
Sweet Gregor, post some pics when you can. I actually bought a set of shorty risers for mine and once I got them on I started trying to chop the stockers. I just really liked the factory top clamp. I figured I'd ruin them but it worked out well. I think I may have started something by the e-mails and PM's Ive received, soon every Deluxe you see will have shorty risers and beach bars, lol.
Once I get the headlight nacell on, I'll post some. For now, this is a shot of my old Heritage, a '98. Sold it about 3 years ago. I've been doing the "slam" look for a while as well. :-)
