I just bought a Firehouse Customs backrest for my ’07 Deluxe and what a difference it made. Due to my lower back problems I never could ride more than forty miles without stopping and stretching. I looked at several options, anywhere from purchasing a Mustang or Corbin seat w/ backrest to having Mean City Cycles fix my stock seat.
I decided to go with Mean City, but in the meantime I purchased the Firehouse Customs backrest just to see how it would feel. I couldn’t believe it, this past Sunday I rode three hundred miles and very little back pain! I’ve got an April appointment to have the seat modification done and hopefully it will just get better.
When Mean City finishes I’ll keep you Deluxe riders updated!
I put the firehouse custom on and didn't realize it has so much flex in it that it took the paint off my fender. I put a piece of leather belt under the bracket and that solved the problem...a little late but maybe you can learn from my experience.
I finally got the guts to order the Mustang rider and bitch seat, it's about $700. when done but it's supposed to be the best, as I have back problems too. I haven't received it yet, I'll ,let you know.
I'm thinking I need to get one of them backrest things. I suppose I will have to buy one and then try to fab a way to attach it to my tractor seat. All I hear is how great they are and my back ain't gettin any younger.
