Just finished putting my deuce dash on. Left the grenade and original coil in place and built a connector to go to the new ignition switch. Used the Harley 5" speedo/tach combo that you can change all of the colors on. I like the lines of the deuce dash much better. Its not too involved of a mod either and I finally have a speedo I like on there.
That's a sharp looking dash man. Much better than the stock look. I'm currently attempting to custom fab a dash for my Rocker from the existing one. Shaving off the indicator light panel and speedo, throwing in some chicken wire and bondo, mixing some paint and hoping for the best. This one may take a little time but there will be pictures soon.
I have been collecting all the parts for the deuce dash switch so I can use the new 5" speedo/tach. Not worried about the ignition switchover. When I went to put the deuce dash on the tank I noticed it isn't as much of a perfect fit as the rocker dash is. It has a little bit of a gap towards the front of the tank on both sides. It is nestled as low as it can go on both the front and seat area attachment points. I attached pics to help show with my thumbnail for a reference. Any thoughts? I know I will need to add the trim but I still think there will be a bit of a gap even with trim.
With the rubber strip along the bottom of my dash it fits tight against the tank.. Not sure why yours doesn't.
I don't have the rubber gasket on there yet but I don't think it will take up that much gap. Very dissappointed and don't understand why it would be different for my bike. The part says hd on the back and the proper part number, so I wonder what gives.
I will have to take a closer look when I get home but I wonder if that attachment point at front of tank can be bent down a little to suck up the gap. Just looking at pic again and seems like a bendable tab. Would suck for it break though.
Another question, when you splice and wired up the indicator light bar did you solder and use shrink tubing for each individual wire?
Thanks to Rail I got a parts list in case anyone wants it, these are from the dealer and if you do some checking you can find them on other websites to save a few dollars.
