Finally finished my coil/Deuce dash conversion on my Rocker..
First I want to say thanks to dmp, Niczumbo and 09_NightRider for letting me pick their brains..
Overall it was pretty simple but no matter how many corners you try to cut this project still adds up.. Final bill was about $700 for parts.. I made the coil bracket and spent 5 hours jackin with wires trying to get Rocker plugs to plug into Deuce parts.. lol.. In my mind this is the way it shoulda come from MOCO.. No more ejecting key issues.. lol
Anyway, it's raining and crap out so I didn't get any decent pics so I just snapped a couple with my phone.. It's supposed to be decent Monday so I'll roll it out and get some much better shots..
stop! im still on the heartland/rw kit thang
welp add another mod for the winter(next winter)
looks great rail how hard of install was ignition 1- 10 ?
this week is gunna be great out no mo rain
The speedo I used is from the '09 SE FatBob.. It's got the clock, 2 trips, fuel to empty as well as the 6th gear indicator.. Coil and cover are from an '08 NT.. Ign switch is from an '07 Deuce.. Had to buy the plug for the coil cuz the rocker one is different.. Reversed the front and back cyl coil wires in the plug so I didn't have to criss/cross the spark plug wires.. I was able to use the stock Rocker harness under the dash but I had to repin and change the plug going into the speedo..
Hard to gauge install difficulty.. Depends on what skilz ya got.. For me it was about a 4. I fabbed the coil bracket which wasn't a big deal since I used to do a lot of sheet metal work.. Dickin with the wiring is not my strong suit but it's all pretty straight forward.. Nothing hard just time consuming.. You do need the wiring diagram though.. Had to solder a couple of extensions to get the plugs in the right spot so they fit under the dash and some things like that..
One thing I should clarify.. The entire project prolly took close to 8 hours.. Took about 2-3 hours pulling the stock coil/ign (about 20 mins for this) then fabbing the bracket so it lines up properly.. Then about 5 hours wiring in the new dash.. A trip or to back for parts, etc..
