Does anyone have the fork air deflectors on a Fatboy with the detachable windshield? Does it decrease the buffeting and how hard are they to put on and take off? Thanks
I don't have a Fatboy, but I have them on my Heritage Classic. It does decrease the buffeting wind and they are not hard to put on......well, I had problems, but that's because I have no patience.
I've seen them on Road Kings, Heritages and Fat Boy models. I've got them on my Heritage. Pretty easy to install. Just 2 bolts on each side (existing bolts for windshield mount). But it would be a chore if you wanted to switch them on and off on a regular basis. They are meant to be put on and left on I guess. They really do make a difference, especially on cold mornings. My jacket collar used to beat my cheeks up pretty bad at highway speeds but now no problems. It doesn't help much at slow speed in traffic but It makes long trips on the highway more enjoyable. And all that chrome looks great.
I have them on my Heritage and like them, especially when I'm wearing my modular helmet..before the deflectors I was like a bobble head at highway speeds..now its smooth.
On the fatty it should be a bit easier install since the turn signals are not in the way.
Do the wind deflectors work with a highway/crash bar?
I have the wind deflectors on my Deluxe - I have an engine guard and there are a couple of slots cut into the deflectors that allow it to fit over the guard. Pic below.
