Guys, I want to change the covers on my motor. I am thinking of sending my primary cover, tranny side cover, and cam cover to powderpro to get coated wrinkle black. Does the bike need to be drained of fluids for all of this? I can get a lift so the bike could sit upright during the downtime

Not sure what model you're talking, but I have a Fatboy and I didn't have to drain any fluids. Just make sure with the bike is upright for the primary cover. Also, you'll need a new primary gasket.
I don't know about the tranny cover. I'm assuming you'll need to drain the tranny fluid for that one, but I didn't change that one so I don't know.

For the Primary you need to drain it. The tranny side cover can be removed without losing much oil. Cam cover as well as long as it is on the jiffy stand. You will lose a little though. Drew

When you pull the transmission cover you'll lose half to three-quarters quart of tranny fluid. Place a half milk jug under it to catch it. This is a good opportunity to drain the rest and put either Amsoil or Redline in it.
