I have V&H true duals with the quiet baffles on my Heritage. I am not satisfied with either the sound or the look. The mufflers are too short and skinny. I'm also not a big fan of the fishtails.I know they're pretty popular, and have to admit that they look great on some bikes, but just not for me.I think I'm going to switch to Samsons with the 4"X30" mufflers. I like the look of the longer and fatter mufflers on a bike with bags. I'd like to hear from anyone who might have some input on the subject. I kind of like the black exhaust system with the chrome tips too, but not sure it would look that good with my paint, so I'll most likely go with chrome. Opinions are welcome on this one. Thanks in advance for any comments you may have.
P.S. At least the weather has finally broken in the Northeast !
I used to have the fishtails (Samson) on my ride. They were great. I think chrome is right for your bike. Black would really dull it down too much. The Samson's you are talking about will look great in chrome. Get me a part number and I can get you a great price. Drew
33" fishtails on a Heritage are hard to beat. Classic look all the way. But then you have to do whitewalls to really retro that bike out. I think with your color combo white walls would the bike serious justice.

The whitewalls are a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. I'll get me some gangster whites soon as i get this exhaust issue straightened out. I'm also considering a fairing and maybe hard bags. I'm still trying to decide if I like this color or not. I liked it on the day I bought it, but have changed my mind a hundred times back and forth since then.

The part number for the Samson system I'm looking at is S2-439. They are $809.00 on the Samson site. Maybe someone will want my V&H system for a couple hundred bucks if I'm lucky.
You should have no problem getting around $250-$300 for your V&H system. Samson just came out with the 4" setup. That was what I was looking for when I made my wishlist for my bike a couple months back. I ended up getting a set of Rush 2" mufflers on ebay for $50 and got a set of Bassani true dual head pipes from Dr. V-Twin. Both pipes are the same diameter, so they should work together fine. The Rush's are either a 3" or 3.5" (I forget) but it was the biggest I could find. I liked the Bassani's because they step up behind the transmission, making the muffler itself a little higher than some of the other brands. To me this makes a difference when mounting hard bags.
Hopefully in the next 3 weeks I can get them installed.

If they fit an 02 Heritage I may be interested! I saw a turquoise Heritage yesterday on Rt. 202 in New Milford ,first one I've seen on the road.BTW I kinda like the color and the white walls will help.
