Default Deuce Oil Pressure?

I have a 05 Fuel Injected Deuce. I just changed the oil after the winter storage. I used 20W-50 Screaming Eagle synthetic oil and HD oil filter 63798-99A. When I went for a test drive I noticed my oil pressure seemed to drop from what I remember last year. It was about 20psi going down the road at 50mph and it would drop to 0 at idle. Last year i thought it was around 30psi on the highway. I just bought the bike so I don't know what filter was on the bike, but I know it was an after market filter. I have HD oil pressure gauge number 75133-99.

Anyone have problems with this gauge? I don't see why changing the oil would effect the oil pressure. Do any of you notice a decrease in oil pressure with the 5 micron filter?? How much oil pressure should I see at idle and going down the road at 55mph/2000rpm.

Here is a post when I questioned what oil filter to use.

For what it is worth.
Many years ago my dad owned a Mobil gas station. They had just come out with Mobil 1 synthetic oil (am I dating myself yet). The Mobil rep was at the station and we were talking about the oil and one of the things I remember him saying was that the oil pressure will be slightly lower than with conventional oil because the synthetic oil flows more freely through the motor hence less oil pressure.
If you had a gauge on a garden hose and had the end of the hose wide open for max flow and no restriction you would have little to no pressure. Now put your finger over the end of the hose and restrict the flow and the pressure will rise. Something like that.
Just because there is little pressure it does not mean it is not lubricating.

I have always used Mobil 1 in all my vehicles inc. my bike. Mobil 1 V twin 20-50 with a HD filter.

As I said, for what it is worth.

stay away from crap filters if you can..I would not save 4 dollars to risk a 4000 dollar moter..Try changing the oil and filter see what happens made the gauge is broke

I took it for a little longer ride today and the oil pressure was at about 28psi today going down the road. It went back down to 10psi at idle when I road for about 20 miles. I will have to keep an eye on it, I guess I was just wanting some input because I just finished changing my filter and oil and noticed a difference. I know it is circulating because the temperature gauge is going up and filter is getting warm.

Thanks,

I had a oil pressure guage on my last 07 softail and on hot days when sitting at lights it would get down to 0 but i was told that the harley guage are not that accurate as i never had the light come on . as your oil gets older the pressure will also drop .

On my last bike 07 Streetglide, the oilpreasure would drop to 0 on hot days at idle, but as long as the warninglight stays off, I wouldn´t worry about it. As stated above, the preasure gages is not exactly accurate and the warninglight is what indicates if the bike get´s enough lube.

But when the preasure varies over time for no apparent reason, you should definitately check it out.
